The Creole Kids Tour transports children, and their chaperones, back to a unique time in New Orleans history: the Golden Era of the 1830s.

The convergence of technology, trade and traveling people allowed New Orleans to become a powerhouse in the United States- and internationally.

Kids will learn about life for children living at that time. All children: rich, poor, free, enslaved, American and of course, Creole. We’ll explore their rules, roles and restrictions. We’ll talk about etiquette and expectations. And touring kids will get the chance to practice some of those archaic behaviors such as greetings, bowing, curtsying.

In addition, the tour will take kids into the courtyard of the Hermann-Grima House, where a local family lived at the time. We’ll show you where they played, where their water came from – and where their “nightsoil” was dumped. All participants will also receive a discounted ticket rate to tour this beautifully restored home. (Check it out:  www.hgghh.org)
